Institute Building

[1F]

Metal workroom
This is a room for producing metal components used in the creation of works and development of devices. It is equipped with machines and equipment necessary for metalwork and other manufacturing.

Salon
It can be used as a space for exchanging IAMAS internal information, besides being a place where information about exhibitions and events is gathered.

[2F]

Loft
A place where students can freely use computers and conduct their research exchanging ideas with other students from the same academic year. Basic equipment for acquiring programming and networking skills, graphic and authoring tools are provided.

Nap room
Japanese style sleeping rooms, not usually found in universities. What do students, who are usually surrounded by electronic media, dream about here? In each room (there are separate rooms for men and women) there are 3 showers and a simple kitchen.

	Project rooms Space assigned as the base for project research. These rooms are assigned according to the scale and contents of each project and necessary equipment is installed in each room.			Lecture rooms This room is used as a place for main lectures, preliminary explanations before practical lessons, appreciating artists' works and other purposes. It is equipped with computers, video-players, projectors and other devices necessary for holding lectures.
	Photo lab The photo lab is equipped with devices that allow students to learn basic development and printing of monochrome and color film.

Library
In addition to 27000 books (as of March 2004), the library also keeps 1040 DVDs, video-tapes, CD-ROMs and other items.

Gallery
This is a multipurpose space that is used for exhibiting works, holding concerts and workshops and for other purposes.

CG studio (CGI Course room)
This is a room mainly used for practical classes on 3D computer graphics and creating works. It is equipped with facilities for image processing, modeling, animation, programming and other activities related to computer graphics.

Visual studio
This is a studio intended for filming. It is equipped with film set facilities including cameras and monitors, recorders, tripods, lights, screens and other facilities for image editing and processing.

	Network classroom (AND Course room) This is a room where practical lessons are held to acquire knowledge and techniques regarding network management, all types of programming, UNIXOS etc., necessary for creating works using the network.			Design studio (DIT Course room) This is a room where practical classes are held on digital contents and 2D design, including webpage design, DTP and high-resolution graphic design.
	Printer room It is equipped with various kinds of printers. A large range of printing needs can be met, including DTP and high-resolution graphic design.

	Sound room (DSP Course room) In this room practical classes are held for acquiring the sound and event management skills and knowledge required to create works that utilize various different media, focusing on the mediums of live performance and sound installations.			Sound studio, Recording studio The sound studio is a full-scale recording studio. The main console is a ProTools based fully digital system and all types of analog synthesizers and samplers and other sound generators are rack-mounted here.
	N.O.C This is a room intended for operating IAMAS LAN. It is equipped with all kinds of network devices including servers and a router.

Large Hall
The Large Hall is a specious classroom with 152 stepped seats used for sit-down lectures, preliminary explanations before practical lessons, appreciating artists' works and a variety of other purposes, similarly to the Lecture room.

Electronic workroom
This room is used for assembling and processing electronic components including IC chips, electronic circuit boards, control motors, etc. and for electronic operations with these components.

Multimedia Studio

	Multimedia Studio It includes a studio and the wood workroom. The studio is used for various events and other purposes.			Studio This studio is used for performances or making works or experiment.
	Wood workroom and workshop This is a room for producing wood components used in the creation of works and development of devices. It is equipped with various machines and equipment necessary for woodwork.

IAMAS MEDIA LABO (in Softopia Japan)

IAMAS MEDIA LABO
IAMAS Media Labo is a facility that was experimentally made as a creative environment for new media education and research.

Dormitory

RIST
The student dormitory was built in Spring 1997 and is located in a residential area about 2.5 kilometers from IAMAS. It is a living space that is both functional and comfortable.
