Lives and works in Amsterdam. Studied at the Rijksakademie and the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam.
He showed at Manifesta 4 Frankfurt and won second prize Prix de Rome in Amsterdam, In addition to numerous Dutch cities, he exhibited among others in Berlin, Paris, Tokyo, Jakarta, Montreal, Antwerpen, Stockholm and Bucharest.
In this exhibition new works Tautology and Horizon Dance created during Jasper van den Brink's IAMAS residency will be introduced, along with an archive of his works. His two new works are video installations. Both works are created with the use of a computer motion-controlled video camera. The projector then makes the same movements as the camera did during recording. By repeating these movements, the work tells the same thing twice (tautology) and extends the video frame and our way of looking. The videos were recorded in Gifu, Shibuya, Tsukiji fishmarket, and along the Japanese coastline.

films RAIN, SUGAR, EYE
Yasmijn Karhof finished her residency at Rijksakademy in Amsterdam in 2004. Recently she has been invited to the JVCA residency in Israel. Her films have shown at various locations including the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, USA, Living art gallery in Iceland and at the Dutch Film Festival. Her film EYE has been listed in the best Dutch films of 2006.
In the trilogy RAIN, SUGAR, EYE thoughts are captured and made visible.
For example in the film SUGAR a woman looks with a playful gaze at a pile of sugar inside the palm of her hand. Ordinary things like sugar, cigarette smoke and a view from a window undergo a metamorphosis and change into a shiny crystal landscape with clouds passing by.
