Three-dimensional data was obtained by scanning (CT) the original teabowl. After converting this data, a resin teabowl was made, hardened through irradiation by ultra-violet rays. A successful surrogate disguises the gap between itself and the original. The surrogate teabowl matches to original in size, weight and texture, allowing the visitor to appreciate all aspects of a teabowl. Thus, the inside bottom (chadamari) or the underside of the foot (kodai) can be seen, parts which are only available by holding and turning the teabowl in one's hands, as, no doubt, the original would have been. Black Raku Teabowl , named "SHICHIRI" The Gotoh Museum Height: 8.6 cm Diameter: 12.2 cm Diameter of foot: 5.2 cm |
