How to Search Materials

Using the catalog search system

Books, magazines, CDs and CD-ROMs are searchable.

＊Videos and DVDs are not available for search. To find videos or DVDs please browse the shelves
　or approach the counter.

Keyword Search	Books, magazines, CDs and CD-ROMs are searchable by title, series name, author, publisher, etc. by keyword. Magazines can be searched by the title of the cover story as well. ＊Magazine cover story titles are searchable only by keyword. By ticking books, magazines, CDs and CD-ROMs for the search objects, search results for all categories will display.
Advanced Search	Books, magazines, CDs and CD-ROMs are searchable by title, author, publisher, year published, etc.by advanced search fields. To search for recently published items or by Japanese or Western categories, use the advanced search. By ticking books, magazines, CDs and CD-ROMs for the search objects, search results for all categories will display.
Periodical List	You can search magazines by title. Use the magazine index search to view details of cataloged magazines, including cover stories.
New Arrivals	A list of books that have arrived within the last month.

How to view the search results screen

The search results screen for books appears as below:

★1	If not checked out, nothing will display here. Checked out items will desplay "Checked out." (「貸出中」) Books not available for checkout will display "Library use only." (「貸出禁止」)
★2	Books are arranged by this number. This aids in finding the book, so make a memo.
★3	Looking at the year it was published tells you what year it was published. When looking for recently published materials or recent topics, this can help your search.
★4	[ 01 (library 「図書館」) ] means the item is in the library. [ 03 (storeroom 「書庫」) ] means that the item is in the book storeroom. To use books in the storeroom, please approach the counter.
★5	[ 02 (oversized books 「大型本書架」) ] refers to books arranged at the back of the library. [ 03 (reference 「参考図書」) ] refers to books arranged on the wooden bookshelf by the reading carrels. [ 04 (contemporary art work collection 「現代アート作品集書架」) ] and [ 05 (photography collection 「写真集書架」) ] refer to books arranged on the steel bookshelf by the copy machine.
