2008 年より私たちは、インタラクションデザイン、プロトタイピング、ユビキタスコンピューティングに関する一連の展覧会を開催してまいりました。三年目となる今年のタイトルは 「Tipping Point(転換点)」です。Malcolm Gladwell が著書「ティッピング・ポイント」 の中で、小さな変化は転換点を超えた時、一気に大きな変化になると述べています。細分 化されたデザインにかわってインタラクションデザインが注目され、パーソナルファブリケーションが 21 世紀型のものづくりとして注目され、また、メディアアートに特化した学校として開学した IAMAS が変動しようとしているように、さまざまなところで転換点を迎えています。本展 覧会では、私たちの活動を紹介するとともに、みなさまとこうしたトピックについてディスカッションしたいと考えています。
Since 2008, we have held a series of exhibitions on interaction design, prototyping and ubiquitous computing. This our third year, we've entitled the exhibition “Tipping Point”. As Malcolm Gladwell described in his book The Tipping Point, a tipping point is the event in which a previously rare phenomenon becomes dramatically more common. Many aspects of the world around us are at their respective tipping points: Interaction design has started to garner attention, personal fabrication is catching on as a novel manufacturing method, and IAMAS - originally started as a school dedicated to media arts?is also changing its direction. In this exhibition, we would like to show our current activities and engage in productive dialogues about these issues.
