Heaven's Eye

Heaven's Eye is the movie installation that you can move monitor put on the floor with its face up to manipulate contents. When you move it, the movie on the monitor will change according to the movement. If you move it toward right, you will see right part of the movie, if forward, then you will see forward part of the movie. You will see a part of the moving image that corresponds to the position of the monitor as if there is a huge image hidden below the floor.

The Original movie is a prerecorded material of people walking by in a city, which is shot like peering down on them from high above. You can find one of them and try to chase him or her as if you are trying to catch fish in the sea with goggle. The relationship between physical movement and contents is so easy to understand by intuition that children also like to play with it.

More or less, it is everyone's interest to observe other people secretly. You might be aware of something that you cannot notice usually, by observing people in an extraordinary way. At the same time, it means that you may also be observed by someone else. While it is fun to observe people, it is not comfortable to be observed. This work reminds you the anxiety we always have in this world of technology.

Chasing people from above the sky, you may feel as if you became someone like god. But your movement to chase people with monitor is controlled by the movement people walking inside the monitor.
