今年は長期にわたり調査研究した成果の公開を目的とし、2022年10月から1ヶ月間、岐阜県博物館で企画展『ねお展：アジール（自由領域）であり続ける地域のこれまで そして これから』を開催した。長期にわたる根尾でのフィールドワークを通じて構築された地域住民との連携が基盤となり、50名近くの地域の人たちの参加協力を得て、24作品が展示された。本展示は、70年ぶりに改正された博物館法の下で地域連携の強化を目指す博物館から高く評価された。来場者からも好評価を得て、その多くが展示を通して根尾の自然や文化に関心をもったと回答しており、展示が地域へと還元される可能性が示唆された。一方、今回の展示を制作者や参加者はどのように受け止めたのか。根尾を一つの形として展示企画に昇華させることへの戸惑いと責任、住民がどう感じるのかという不安、膨大な調査データをどう表現すればよいかという迷いと葛藤など、博物館という不慣れな環境で試行錯誤しながら開催した。IAMAS2023では、ねお展を終え、その振り返りとして、改めて根尾の人たちと本プロジェクトメンバーに「ねお展とは何であったのか」をきいた語りの一部を展示した。

To publicize the results of our long-term research, this year a special exhibition, “Neo Exhibition: The Past and Future of a Community that Continues to be an Azir (Free Territory),” was held for one month from October 2022 at the Gifu Prefectural History Museum. Through partnerships, established via our long-term fieldwork, with local residents of Nebo, 24 works were exhibited with the participation and cooperation of nearly 50 local residents. The exhibition received excellent praise from the museum because it is striving to strengthen local collaboration in response to the recent amendment – the first in 70 years – to the history museum laws. The exhibit received positive feedback from visitors, many of whom indicated that they became interested in the nature and culture of Nebo thanks to the exhibit, suggesting that the exhibit is giving back to the community.
On the other hand, how did the creators and participants perceive this exhibition? They struggled with a variety issues, such as: the event being held in an environment unfamiliar to them – a history museum – unfamiliar to them, a feeling of responsibility mixed with uncertainty about sublimating Nebo as a single form in an exhibition, anxiety about how residents would feel about it, and confusion and struggle concerning how to express the enormous amount of survey data. Furthermore, following the Neo Exhibition at IAMAS 2023, we exhibited the responses of those Nebo residents, who participated in this project, to the survey question, “what was the Neo exhibition all about?
