Archival Archetypingとは、アーカイブとアーキタイプを同時に実現しようという考え方である。2年目となる今年度は、COVID-19パンデミックによる様々な制約を、これまでの常識を疑う機会と捉え、オンラインを中心に濃密な議論を重ね、メディア表現のあり方を探求した。前期においては、インタラクティビティに関する議論を重ねた。その成果に基づき、2020年7月末には「インタラクティビティを再定義する」をテーマに、基調講演、ハンズオン、制作、発表からなる2日間のフォーラムをオンラインで開催し、外部から参加した20名と共に議論を深めた。後期においては、物理空間において構築されてきた展覧会というアートワールドのシステムを疑い、展覧会とは何か、そもそも作品とは何かを問うところから始めた。そのため、東京都写真美術館学芸員の田坂博子さん、哲学研究者／機械学習エンジニアの大山匠さんに特別講義をいただいた。後期の成果は、「Archival Archetyping Exhibition 2020」、「IAMAS 2021」の展覧会内展覧会、「メタ・モ（ニュ）メント2021」の3回に渡って発表した。

Archival Archetyping is the idea of simultaneously creating an archive and an archetype. This academic year is the second year of engaging in this project, and while various restrictions were put in place in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we viewed them as opportunities to question conventional common practices. Through many substantial discussions, mainly held online, we explored how media expressions can be presented. During the first term, we held discussions on interactivity. Based on the results, we held a two-day online forum at the end of July 2020 on the theme “redefining interactivity.” The forum was comprised of keynote addresses, hands-on experiences, creative activities, a presentation, and discussions with 20 outside participants. In the second term, we questioned the system of exhibitions in the art world, which are constructed in physical spaces. We began with discussions on what an exhibition is, and, for that matter, what a work of art is. To assist us, we asked Hiroko Tasaka, a curator at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, and Takumi Ohyama, a philosopher and machine learning engineer, to hold special lectures. We presented the results of our work in the second term over the course of three events: as exhibits at the Archival Archetyping Exhibition 2020 and the IAMAS 2021 exhibition and at Meta mo(nu)ment 2021.
