プロジェクトの初年度として、前期には『自然なきエコロジー』（ティモシー・モートン著）を参照しつつ、映像、音響、映画等の芸術表現を鑑賞し、議論した。担当教員による文献研究とレクチャーでは自然と文化の二項対立でなくその「境界」についての問題意識を音響芸術、映像芸術を鑑賞した上で議論し、理解を深めた。さらに映画監督の青山真也を招いての『東京オリンピック2017 都営霞ヶ丘アパート』の上映とディスカッション、後期には研究者の佐原浩一郎によるレクチャーをおこない議論した。10月には「柳ヶ瀬」という場所のリサーチ、フィールドワークから写真表現、音響表現をもとにビッカフェにて展覧会を開催し、映像人類学者の宮下十有さん、ビルオーナーの上田哲司さんを招いてトークイベントもおこなった。11月には人類学者、川瀬慈さんのレクチャーとワークショップを岐阜・谷汲、縁舎において実施した。１日という短い時間での場所体験とその表現というユニークで批判的な手法を学ぶことができた。修了展示IAMAS 2023においては、プロジェクトメンバー有志３名それぞれがプロジェクトテーマと関連した作品を展示をおこなった。

As the first year of the project, during the first half of the semester, with attentiveness to the ideas of Timothy Morton’s “Ecology without Nature” we viewed and discussed films, video art, as well as sound works. Through literature reviews and lectures by the responsible professors, we deepened our understanding of the dichotomization of nature and culture and discussed artwork conscious of the problems concerning that “boundary.” Furthermore, we held a viewing and discussion of director Aoyama Shinya’s film, “Tokyo Olympic 2017: Kasumigaoka City Apartments” while in the second half of the semester we received a guest lecture from researcher, Koichiro Sawara. In October, we organized an exhibition at Biccafe based on the research, fieldwork, photographic expression, and sound expression of the “Yanagigase” as a “location.” We also held a talk event to which we invited visual anthropologist, Juyu Miyashita, and the building owner, Tetsuji Ueda. In November, we attended a lecture and workshop at Ensha in Tanikumi, Gifu by Ji Kawase. The students got the opportunity to learn a unique, critical method of experiencing and expressing a place in the short period of time of a single day. In the final exhibition, IAMAS 2023, each of the three project members exhibited their own artwork related to the project theme of “place, sense, and media.”
