普段「きくこと」をどれほど意識しているでしょうか。「きくこと」は人と人とが関係する全ての営みの土台だといえます。そして、「きくこと」は私たちの研究や表現活動においてもとても重要です。個人のナラティブから公人のインタビューに至るまで、リサーチャー、フィールドワーカー、アーティスト、アーキヴィスト、エンジニアなどが、「きくこと」の実践を行っています。一方、「語り」は、語り手と聞き手の相互行為による共同生成でありながら、「語り」に注目が集まり、「きくこと」に対してはほとんど議論されてきませんでした。実際、多くの人たちにとって「きくこと」は受動的と思われているのかもしれません。また、「きくこと」は過去や現在に関わる行為であって、それが未来へつながるとはあまり考えられていません。本プロジェクトでは、「きくこと」を表現技法として位置づけ、その方法論や実践、哲学的意義にアプローチすることを通じて、自発的で想像的な行為として考えていきます。

Typically, how aware are you of “listening”? “Listening” can be said to be the foundation of all human interaction. Thus, “listening” is extremely important to our research and expression activities. From individual narratives to interviews with public figures, researchers, fieldworkers, artists, archivists, engineers, and others all engage in the practice of “listening.” On the other hand, “speaking” is a co-creation activity resulting from the interaction between the speaker and the listener, and a great focus has been placed on “speaking” itself with little discussion of “listening.” In fact, to the majority of people “listening” is perhaps thought to be a passive activity. Additionally, “listening” is an action that relates to the past and present, rarely being thought of as connecting to the future. In this project, we position “listening” as an expression method, exploring it as a spontaneous and imaginative act by examining its methodology, practice, and philosophical significance.
