「装置を用いた表現」と伝統的な芸能の習得／実践双方を通して、時間内表現の可能性を探るタイムベースドメディア・プロジェクトは3年目を迎えた。プロジェクトでは毎年、インドネシアの伝統芸能「ガムラン」のサークルを運営し、古典曲を練習するほか学生、教員による新作の発表なども積極的に行ってきたが、新型コロナウイルスの影響でサークル活動は一切行えず今年度をもって終了することになった。その一方で今年度、総力を挙げて取り組んだサラマンカホールからの無観客ライブ配信「未来音楽展2020　三輪眞弘祭　- 清められた夜 -」では、三輪のガムラン・アンサンブルのための新作「鶏たちのための五芒星」が初演され、また、そのライブ配信そのものを「「配信芸術」作品として前田が映像監督として全体を指揮し、また松井は詩人として、参加学生もまた出演者として参加しこのイベントを成功させた。さらにIAMAS2021展ではその姉妹作品として「人形たちのための五芒星」が初演されたほか、それらとは別に8月には無料のオンライン上映とトークのイベントを企画し、ドキュメンタリー映画『動いている庭』を期間限定で無料公開した。

The Time-Based Media Project, which explores the possibilities of “art-in-time” by studying and implementing “device-based creation” alongside traditional art, has entered its third year. Every year, the project ran a club that studied the traditional Indonesian music, Gamelan, and practiced classical songs in addition to actively presenting new works by students and faculty. However, due to COVID-19, the club was unable to hold any activities and will be dissolved at the end of this academic year. Instead, we focused our efforts this academic year on organizing a live-streamed event with no audiences titled “Future Music Exhibit 2020: Masahiro Miwa Festival—Purified Night” from the Salamanca Hall. During the event, Miwa held the first performance of his new Gamelan ensemble piece, “A Pentagram for Chickens,” while Maeda, as video director, orchestrated the entire live stream itself as a form of “streamed-media art.” The event also featured poetry by Matsui, and participating students joined in as performers, making the event a success. Furthermore, a sister work titled “A Pentagram for Dolls” was performed for the first time at IAMAS 2021. Separately, we also organized a free online performance and panel discussion in August and showed the documentary film The Garden in Movement for free during a limited period.
