Gamelan Workshop entry
Gamelan Workshop [Advanced reservations required]
This is an invitation to gamelan by sound artist Atsushi Nishijima. This workshop will not focus on orthodox Javanese music, but will rather use gamelan instruments to discover various new sounds and ways of performing. On the last day (Sept. 28th) we will hold a world premier performance.

Javanese Dance Workshop
Javanese Dance Workshop [Advanced reservations required]
Currently Accepting Participants (Pre-registration required)
Experience the wisdom of Javanese dance in a natural setting with this workshop where you can “dance like the water.” Through movements of the body, participants aim to heighten their perception, gaining a sense of the earth, wood, wind, clouds, and the moon. On the last day participants will perform a dance to the sounds of gamelan music.

Cinematic Media Workshop
Cinematic Media Workshop [Advanced reservations required]
Each participant will shoot a short, light-hearted movie with a camera they are given based on the film subject of gamelan instruments and dancing. Even if you’ve never picked up a camera before, feel free to come. The resulting film will be displayed alongside the music and dance performances on September 28th. Our workshop will be held at the same time as both of these workshops.

Workshop: A-I-U-E-OGAKI
Workshop: A-I-U-E-OGAKI ［walk-ins welcome］
In this workshop we will communicate without the use of written or spoken letters or words, but rather use our whole body. Participants will create dances from words. Participants will select words they want to express through dance and transform these into choreography, following a specific set of rules. The resulting dance will be filmed and displayed alongside words in the exhibition space.
