IAMAS is the acronym for two Gifu Prefecture educational institutions, the Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences and the International Academy of Media Arts and Sciences. These two institutions are established in Ogaki, the focus point of Gifu Prefecture's project to create a "Gifu Advanced Information Hub". Since it's founding, IAMAS has been recognised both nationally and internationally as a leading educational institution producing masters of media art that are well attuned to current trends in multimedia and information technologies. IAMAS boasts interdisciplinary curricula that combine the various genres of media sciences and media arts, with courses in interactive media, interface design, programming, digital music and sound editing, video editing and computer animation, Virtual Reality, electronics, computer networks and net-based media, as well as media aesthetics, media critique and media art history.
